Soul Direction

I have come to trust that if the next step scares me, it is probably a soul-directed act. ~ Sarah Ban Breathnach

This quote reminds me that everyone feels fear when trying something new or challenging. So I can choose to feel the fear and take the next step anyway. Or I can choose not to take that step and stay just as I am. Not taking the next step is still a choice, even if it is a self-limiting choice.

  1. yes, maintaing status quo is still a decision!

I think we often learn and grow the most from stepping into the unknown. A step of faith. :)

    1. I also think that when we take that step we need to suspend judgement as to whether it has worked out well or not. It often takes time to be able to discern the ultimate result.

  2. Sherri, it really is easier just to stay the same, isn't it? :-)

    1. Oh gosh yes. Change is so hard, it takes so much effort and brain power. It often upsets those around us, including those we live with as any change we make for ourselves impacts on them.

    1. I like that quote so much Luna. The discomfort that comes from avoiding risk, or unpleasantness' or effort' does build up until one needs to find relief from the discomfort. Of course the most straight forward relieffrom the discomfort is just to nerve up and take the plunge.

  4. I find the change I need, doesn't come from the most likely source. I look outwards, instead of inwards. But it is always the inward reflections you can make the most peace with. Or, at least, I do. :)

    1. Looking within is so important. Listening to what Eileen Caddy called the still, small voice within. However I like to remain open to serendipity as well.
